{Pregnancy Update} 35 Weeks

35 Weeks 2 Days

How far along are you: 35 Weeks!

How big is the baby: Your baby doesn’t have much room to maneuver now that he’s over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in your womb, he isn’t likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight. (source)

Baby’s Gender: We both think it’s a boy (most of the time although this week I think it’s a girl).

Baby’s Name: We have a name for a boy or a girl–> we actually are stuck on two different girl names, decisions, decisions.

Weight Gained: 25 lbs

Clothes: Shirts are getting shorter. Pants are getting more uncomfortable. Mostly wearing dresses.

How are you feeling: I am feeling pretty good. A little tired. A little cranky. A little hot (it’s been 70-80’s).

What do you miss: I miss sleeping comfortably. Beer. Running.

Symptoms: ,

Cravings: Extra large salads.

How are you sleeping: Sleeping was going pretty well but this week not as good.  I am up more often and I have been waking up in the middle of the night or super early.

Workouts: This week I went to yoga Tuesday and have been doing lots of walking!

Things I’m looking forward to: Our baby shower which is tomorrow! Finishing up at my office job (only 15 more working days).  Post-baby shower shopping for the things we want to get before the baby arrives.

In other news:

We are still on track to launch Naturally Family on June 4th  JUNE 11TH but until then check us out of Facebook and Twitter.

We still haven’t been able to tour our birthing center which is making me pretty nervous.  I called yesterday about touring but it wasn’t a good day for them.  Hopefully next Friday when we go down for our appointment we will be able to.  Update: We still haven’t been able to tour the birthing center.  At our appointment this morning the entire birthing center was full!!

Also at our appointment this morning we discussed the worst case scenarios for two different reasons I might have to have a c-section.  The first of which is the emergency c-section, which after hearing their protocol/procedures around this left me feeling a little traumatized and I burst into tears (I blame the pregnancy hormones- I just couldn’t stop myself!).  The second was the “we’ve tired absolutely everything but you aren’t progressing” scenario which results in a much more calm transition to c-section than the emergency.  I already knew the reasons for a c-section, that there is always a possibility and the general info on how it works but it was really overwhelming to hear what could happen to ME. Luckily our birthing center/hospital as a 16% cesarean rate which is half of what the national average for c-sections.

Next week is my Strep-B test which I am nervous about since 25% of women have Strep-B and if you do it is highly recommended that you be on antibiotics during labor and birth. Did you pass your Strep-B test? If you didn’t did you have the antibiotics or take the risk?

{Pregnancy Update} 34 Weeks

photo 33.5 weeks

How far along are you: 34 Weeks!

How big is the baby: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she’s born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you’ve been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies. (source)

Baby’s Gender: We both think it’s a boy (most of the time).

Baby’s Name: We have a name for a boy or a girl–> we actually are stuck on two different girl names, decisions, decisions.

Weight Gained: 24 lbs

Clothes: I bought myself another dress. It’s not maternity but the style works well with my belly and should be flattering for the remainder of the summer.

How are you feeling: I am feeling pretty god. I am getting tired out pretty easily during the week but am making time to rest and sleep as needed. Friday I got home from work and took a two hour nap before our couples yoga class.

What do you miss: I miss sleeping comfortably. Beer. Running.

Symptoms: Heartburn,  pressure down lower in my pelvis, and even more frequent peeing.

Cravings: tempeh sandwiches. popsicles. berries. salad.

How are you sleeping: Sleeping is going alright.  This week I have been having a lot of hip pain and it’s hard to get comfortable.

Workouts: This week I went to yoga Tuesday, couples yoga Friday and went for a number of walks.

Things I’m looking forward to: Our baby shower! Finishing work (only 4 more weeks!!!)

{Pregnancy Update} 33 Weeks

How far along are you: 33 Weeks — ONLY 49 DAYS LEFT!!!

How big is the baby: This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He’s rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood. (source)

Baby’s Gender: We both think it’s a boy (most of the time).

Baby’s Name: We have a name for a boy or a girl

Weight Gained: 22-23 lbs

Clothes: My tops are getting shorter and for bottoms I’m pretty much down to leggings. Luckily, I have a few dresses that still work, although I was disappointed to find that two dresses that worked for me before are now WAY too short to be worn in public. I also am on a mission to find a bathing suit this weekend so that I can hopefully get in some swim time at the tennis club (husband gets in free – work perk!).  I plan on only buying a top because my regular bottoms seem to still fit okay and I have little swim skirts I can wear with them so I’d rather not take on the expense of a full tankini and one pieces just look ridiculous on me.

How are you feeling: I am getting tired out really easily now but I am otherwise feeling pretty good.  I have been napping in the afternoon which has really been helping my energy levels and still making sure to get lots of walks in. We have had some crazy heat lately though which really hasn’t helped when I am already tired out though.

What do you miss: I miss running still but what I really miss this week is having my girlfriends around.  My two BFF’s live 5-9 hours away (Toronto and NYC) and right now it would be so nice to have them around while I finish my last trimester and get ready for this baby to come.

Symptoms: Forgetfulness and clumsiness, also known as baby brain, frequent urination, Braxton Hicks contractions (just on long walks when I am slightly dehydrated), dry, brittle nails and due to the heat I have been feeling overheated.

Cravings: WATERMELON. I have eaten so much watermelon in the last week, I just can’t get enough.  Also ranch dip which I am waiting on my order of vegan ranch packets from Kaycee.

How are you sleeping: Sleeping is going fairly well, I get up 4-5 times a night to pee but otherwise doing pretty well.

Workouts: This week I skipped yoga for a much needed nap after a ridiculously busy weekend but I have made sure to get in a number of walks.

Things I’m looking forward to: Our baby shower! Finishing work (only 5 more weeks!!!)

In other news:

I am ready to go shopping for baby but I’m trying to hold off on buying anything off our two registries until the shower.

It finally hit me hard this week that we are having a baby and I need to finish my pre-baby projects because they could be here in as few as four weeks <– my husband keeps reminding me of his because a guy he works with wife just had their first at 36.5 weeks.

We are still on track to launch Naturally Family on June 4th but until then check us out of Facebook and Twitter.
